Faith of Our Fathers

In 1932, the late Rev. George W. Allen (son of William & Addie Allen) established what would become known throughout Key West as “The Allen Church.”

Since that time, Trinity Wesleyan Methodist Church has been the spiritual home of the Allen Family in Key West.  Countless Allen babies have been christened, marital unions have been blessed, and deceased family members have been mourned within Trinity’s walls.  Today, many Allens still worship within its sanctuary, and several Allen descendants have served as church pastor.
 
Numerous reunion meetings and fundraisers have been held at the church fellowship hall, and Trinity has twice hosted Allen Family Day in recognition of the ties that bind the church and the Allen Family.  Unfortunately, termite damage and the passage of time have taken their toll on the church edifice.  It is now in dire need of repair.

Led by Rev. Theodore Carey and Phyllis Allen (grandchildren of founder Rev. George W. Allen), church officers and members have embarked upon an impressive renovation and preservation project.  Their goal: a church home we can all be proud of.

We’re calling on all Allen descendants to help preserve this important part of our history. Future generations of Allens should know the privilege of worshiping in a church built and consecrated by our Allen ancestors’ hands.
